Chip Builder
Privacy policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data the game Chip Builder and this website process and why. Chip Builder is made and published by bitheap GmbH, Dennlerstrasse 21A, 8047 Zürich, Switzerland ("we"). For any privacy question or request, write to support@bitheap.tech.
The short version
Chip Builder is a single-player game. It has no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we do not sell or share personal data. Your progress is saved on your own computer. The only personal data involved is what your game store needs to award achievements.
Achievements and your store account
To unlock achievements, the game uses the platform you bought it on:
- Epic Games Store: the game signs in with your Epic Games account through Epic Account Services and receives your Epic account ID and display name. These are used only to record which achievements you have unlocked. For how your Epic Games account itself is handled, see the Epic Games privacy policy.
- Steam: achievements are recorded by Valve through Steamworks under Valve's privacy policy.
We can see aggregated achievement statistics in the store's developer tools. We do not receive your email address, payment details or friends list.
Data stored on your computer
Your save games and settings are stored locally on your computer and are never sent to us. Deleting the game's save folder removes them.
How long we keep data, and how to access or delete it
We do not run servers that store player data. Your achievement records stay attached to your store account for as long as that account exists; you can see them in your store library at any time, and we can reset them for you on request. Save games and settings stay on your computer until you delete them. E-mails you send to support are kept only as long as we need them to answer you, and we delete them on request. To access, correct or delete any data we hold, write to support@bitheap.tech; we answer within 30 days.
This website
chipbuilder.org uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. It is hosted by Vercel Inc., which processes standard server logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure, under its own privacy policy. The store buttons take you to the Epic Games Store or Steam, which have their own privacy policies.
Sharing your progress
If you press a share button in the game, it opens X (Twitter) or LinkedIn in your web browser with a pre-written message, or copies the message to your clipboard. Nothing is posted unless you post it yourself, and what happens on those sites is governed by their own privacy policies.
Purchases
Purchases are handled entirely by the store you buy from. We receive sales reports that do not identify you.
Legal basis and your rights
We process the data above to provide the game you acquired (performance of a contract). Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you may ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, and you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Switzerland, the FDPIC). Because we hold almost no personal data ourselves, most requests are best directed to the store whose account you use; we will help where we can.
Children
Chip Builder does not knowingly collect personal data from children beyond what the store platform provides for achievements.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
